Arrive at The American Club
The American Club is one of the best resort hotels in the Midwest — the former dormitory for Kohler factory workers is now a AAA Five Diamond property with serious food and spa infrastructure. Settle in and walk the grounds before dinner at The Immigrant Restaurant.
Blackwolf Run — River Course
Pete Dye's 30-minute-drive companion courses in Sheboygan are a proper warm-up for the Kohler layouts. The River Course winds through the Sheboygan River valley and ranks #17 public course in the US — a legitimate round in its own right.
Whistling Straits — Irish Course
The Irish Course introduces the Kohler lakeside terrain without the full intensity of the Straits. More forgiving off the tee, same dramatic Lake Michigan exposure on the lakeside holes. Walking only — good day to get caddie-comfortable.
Whistling Straits — Straits Course
The Ryder Cup course, reserved for the peak day. All 1,000 bunkers are in play, the wind off Lake Michigan is rarely the same twice, and the closing stretch from 17 onward is as demanding as anything in public golf. Caddies are not optional.
Blackwolf Run — Meadow Valleys
A relaxed closing round on Blackwolf's companion layout — Pete Dye's Meadow Valleys plays more open and forgiving than the River Course, and it's an honest ranking at #92 public USA. Afternoon drive back toward Milwaukee.
Depart Milwaukee
Morning drive to Milwaukee or fly out of Sheboygan County Memorial Airport for connections. Most groups stop in Milwaukee's Third Ward for one last meal on the way through.
GROUPS 12+ — The American Club's group coordinator handles tee times across all four Kohler courses from a single contact — use this. Rooms in the main building are superior to the carriage house rooms for groups that want to socialize in the evenings.
