WHAT A TRIP LOOKS LIKE
Arrive — County Thursday
Thursday afternoon is the ideal arrival window — the County's restaurants are quieter mid-week, and you can walk into dinner at Drake Devonshire or Parsons Brewing without a 2-hour wait. Check into a vacation rental rather than a hotel; the County has strong rental inventory.
Picton Golf & Country Club
Open round at Picton — the parkland layout plays through mature trees with well-set greens that reward approach accuracy over distance. It's a fair course that doesn't punish mid-handicappers for not being on tour.
Wellington on the Lake
Wellington on the Lake's winery-adjacent setting is the selling point — you're finishing your round with vineyard rows visible across the fence on the back nine. Afternoon in the Waupoos or Lake on the Mountain wine corridor.
Picton Rematch + Farm Table Dinner
Second round at Picton with a proper format in place — skins, Nassau, or a scramble for groups that are outmatched on the card. Finish with a farm-to-table dinner reservation in Picton: the restaurant scene here genuinely rivals Niagara-on-the-Lake for quality.
Wellington Rematch & Sandbanks
A final morning round at Wellington on the Lake, then an afternoon at Sandbanks Provincial Park's East Lake beach — it's a legitimate Great Lakes freshwater beach and the best non-golf moment of any County trip.
Depart
Farmers' market stop at the Picton Market on the way out if timing works — then the 2.5-hour drive home.
GROUPS 12+ — A large vacation rental (4–6 bedrooms) in Bloomfield or Wellington costs less per night than a block of hotel rooms in Niagara and gives the group proper common space. Book through a local County property manager 3–4 months ahead for summer availability.
