WHAT A TRIP LOOKS LIKE

4 ROUNDS
DAY 1

Arrive in San Diego

San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter or Little Italy make a proper first evening — the food scene here rivals any city in California. Check in and keep it relaxed; the golf starts in the morning.

DAY 2

Park Hyatt Aviara

Arnold Palmer's 1991 design in Carlsbad, 35 minutes north — an excellent upscale warm-up round with canyon views and generous fairways before the US Open layouts. The resort grounds are worth a walk after the round.

DAY 3

Torrey Pines North

Bell's original North Course is more forgiving than its famous sibling but no less scenic — the canyon holes on the back nine and the coastal air make it a proper round. Good day to study the South Course routing from adjacent fairways.

DAY 4

Torrey Pines South

The Rees Jones redesign that hosted Mickelson and then Rahm winning US Opens — play the tips if the group's game warrants it, and respect the rough. Sunset from the practice putting green overlooking the Pacific is one of golf's quieter great moments.

DAY 5

La Jolla & Leisure

Full rest day in La Jolla — the Cove, Brockton Villa for breakfast, and the Children's Pool area. Most golfers discover that San Diego could comfortably hold a full week's non-golf attention.

DAY 6

Depart

San Diego airport to Toronto with one connection or direct depending on the season. Leave time for lunch in the Gaslamp or Little Italy before heading to the airport.

GROUPS 12+ — Torrey Pines' city-managed booking system doesn't allow the same advance planning as resort courses — appoint one person in the group to hit the online reservation system exactly 7 days out at midnight Pacific time for the best available tee slots on the South Course.
